Overview

NoteQuest ("the app," "we," "us") is an ear-training and note-reading app published by Chop Productions. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.

The short version: NoteQuest does not have accounts, does not collect personal information on our servers, does not use analytics or advertising, and does not share or sell data. Everything the app remembers about you is stored only on your own device.

Information we do not collect

NoteQuest has no sign-up, no login, and no user accounts. We do not operate any servers that receive or store your personal information. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind.

Information stored on your device

To let you (or a parent or teacher) track practice progress, the app stores the following locally on your device only, using standard on-device storage. None of it is transmitted to us or to any third party:

  • Player profiles you create — a name, an emoji, and a color you choose for each student/player

  • Practice history — streaks, session results, note accuracy, XP/level progress, and earned badges, per profile

  • Your chosen app settings, such as your last-used session configuration and Helper Mode preference

This data stays on your device. Deleting a profile in the app immediately erases that profile's stored data. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.

Microphone access

NoteQuest asks for microphone permission to listen to the note you sing or play on your instrument, so it can check whether you matched the correct pitch. Audio is analyzed in real time, entirely on your device, to detect pitch. The app does not record, store, or transmit your audio anywhere — it is processed only long enough to detect a pitch and then discarded.

You can deny or revoke microphone access at any time in your device's system settings; the app's tap-to-answer mode does not require the microphone at all.

In-app purchases

NoteQuest offers an optional one-time in-app purchase to unlock the full app. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store (or Google Play, on Android) — NoteQuest never receives or stores your payment details. We only store, locally on your device, whether that purchase was made, so the app can unlock accordingly.

Children's privacy

NoteQuest is designed to be usable by children practicing music, typically set up by a parent or teacher. Because the app collects no information beyond what is described above — all of which stays on the device and is never transmitted to us — we do not knowingly collect personal information from children online.

If you intend to list this app as "Made for Kids" / primarily directed at children under 13, review current COPPA requirements with a lawyer — this section is a factual description of the app's behavior, not a compliance determination.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties, because we do not collect or hold it in the first place.

Data retention and deletion

All app data lives on your device under your control. You can delete an individual profile (and its history) from the profile switcher at any time, or remove all data by uninstalling the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
